Whatever you do on Mother’s Day, be sure you RELAX, PLAY, LIVE LARGE, GET IT DONE, GO WILD, GIVE BACK and ENJOY!
Here are some ideas:
RELAX…
1. Redeem all the handmade coupons you have received over the years from your children, for backrubs, foot massages and “doing laundry.”
2. Open a good bottle of Champagne and have a “Momosa.”
3. Stay in your pajamas all day.
4. Take a stroll.
5. Just sit down and do nothing.
6. Soak your feet in Epson salts.
7. Take a nap!
PLAY…
- Invite the whole family to do everything left handed if they are right handed (and vice versa)
- Build something out of Legos
- Have an ice cream eating contest.
- Make silly videos.
- Have an all-day game tournament (Monopoly, Risk, Go Fish?)
- Play hop-scotch, jump rope or catch.
- Make a cake creation (Resource: Cupcakes, cookies & pie, oh, my! By Karen Tack and Alan Richardson)
- Make Chocolate strawberries (followed by eating them, of course)
- Make believe you are sleeping and take a nap.
LIVE LARGE…
- Skip it – whatever it is you normally do on Sundays, skip it.
- Splurge on yourself.
- Let go of worry for the entire day.
- Request to be referred to as “Madam” or “Your Royal Highness,” all day.
- Make a list of your Big Dreams for the coming year.
- Make a list of actions steps you can take to make those dreams happen.
- Take a BIG nap.
GET IT DONE…
- Do 50 Sit-ups.
- While you’re at it, do 50 push-ups too.
- Organize one drawer or shelf.
- Create a new tradition.
- Throw a dinner party.
- Learn the difference between the Samba, Mambo and Tango
- Join the gym (you’ve been meaning to!)
- Check the “nap” off your list of to-do’s by taking one.
GO WILD…
- Get in the car with your family and start driving.. find someplace you have never been before.
- Stand on your head.
- Go on an adventure while your husband stays home with the children
- Don’t go to brunch unless you love going to brunch, in which case; don’t miss the opportunity to go to brunch.
- Buy expensive shoes.
- Go hang gliding (too wild? How about snorkeling.?)
- Challenge yourself physically by taking a hike, bike ride or run.
- Take a 4 hour nap.
GIVE BACK…
- Call your mother.
- Write cards and send them to soldiers overseas.
- Fill up one bag of clothes you don’t need anymore and donate them. Ask your children to do the same.
- Tell each child what you appreciate about them (after all, they made you the mother you are today)
- Take the family shopping for canned an non-perishable goods and deliver them to a food bank.
- Adopt an animal
- Make sure your “significant other” gets to take a nap.
ENJOY…
- Read a book to your children, that your mother used to read to you.
- Enjoy being home alone while your husband takes your children out for an adventure.
- Snuggle with your family and watch movies in bed all day.
- Catch some zzzzz’s
