Why not have a little fun next week?  You’ve earned it, haven’t you?

I’m guessing 2013 started off with some excitement.

Like a Wonder Woman in a traveling circus, you were outfitted and primed between Christmas and New Years, and then KABOOM – shot like a rocket into the New Year.

Back to school.  Back to work.

Did you really sign up to host the teacher appreciation party at your house?

Is it ok to leave holiday decorations up until March?

Do we have to start planning for summer camp already?

Remember the “good ol’ days” of November and December when putting things off until the “New Year,” seemed like a great idea?

Here’s the solution.

The New Year starts today

All that stuff you got done in January was gravy.  Today is the day that 2013 begins.

Doesn’t that feel better?

Now, let’s make the first week of February more fun and less stressful:

1. FUGGETABOUTIT.

Eliminate one task you do each morning.  Either do it the night before (make lunches or put clothes out ahead of time,)  do it another time in the day OR don’t do it at all!

Most of us schedule our mornings as if we are planning a covert operation and every second counts.  We jump into the shower for 2.5 minutes,  dress while packing lunches for the kids and dry our hair by opening the window on the way to work, just in time to screech into the office parking lot, stressed out.

Give yourself an extra 15 minutes and you will be amazed at how it changes your day.

2. C’MON, GET HAPPY!

Make one connection with a friend or family member.  When is the last time you talked to your cousin, best friend from college or neighbor?

Human connections support happiness.  Let’s get happy, people!

3. THANK YOU!

Really.  Thank yourself for something each and every day.  Sounds so simple, right?  But how often do we do this?

When we acknowledge ourselves for all the good stuff, we give ourselves the ability to create more good stuff.  So, not only does a little “thank you” feel good, but it helps all the rest of us too.

Thank you!

4. CHANGE IT UP!

Do something different.  Take a new route to work, change your hair, play LEGOs with your kids, get dressed up, stand on your head, don’t put on make-up, sleep in, get up early.  Be sassy or sweet.

Just keep ‘em guessing.

5.  BECOME A NICE-O-HOLIC.

Take the opportunity to do something simple and unexpected and reap the benefits!

Check out this great site for ideas:  http://www.doonenicething.com/

6.  OH, VERRRRY FUNNY!

Take the time to laugh each day.  If you don’t have funny children, a hilarious spouse or colleagues that can get a giggle out of you, go to youtube, and enjoy.

Laughing is fun and it promotes healthy gums.  (that was a joke)

7.  IF IT AIN’T BROKE.

Notice what is working is your life.  Identify the sources of all of those things that make life easy and enjoyable.

What you focus on EXPAAAAAANDS!

7.5   FILL IN THE GAP

If I did more or less of ___________________ this week, life would be more fun and less stressful.

Brilliant.
